Education isn’t the only sector facing massive cuts. The government is proposing to make cuts across the whole public sector, from hospitals to civil servants to social workers and everything in between. The cuts we are facing in Higher and Further Education are only one part of the overall cuts agenda.
Trade unionists in public sector workplaces, service users and their supporters are setting up local anti-cuts committees, to co-ordinate the fight against cuts. These committees are places where local labour movement and community activists meet to share information and plan joint action.
Student anti-cuts activists and student unions must link up with these anti-cuts committees! Send members of your SU executive, or representatives of your campaign to anti-cuts committee meetings. Participate in the actions they call; and ask for their help with your own anti-cuts activities.
