The Women’s Library will be sold off by London Met by the end of 2012. There is now only one bidder to take it on - the LSE – who will not retain the library in its current purpose-built building. The Save the Women’s Library campaign want to see that the library stays in its historic home, that the collection stays intact and accessible to all, and that the library retains its expert staff.
With decisions about the future of the library due to be made by the end of the month, the next few weeks are crucial. Here are three things you can do to support the fight to save the Women’s Library from closure:
- Thursday 13th September: Demonstrate outside the selection committee meeting. Meet at 12pm at Holloway Road tube, so we can be at the Holloway site where the meeting is going to be held as the committee members go in for the meeting which starts at 1pm.
- Monday 17th September: Come to the next camapaign organising meeting. 6-8pm at Freedom Books, Angel Alley, E1 (Aldgate East).
- Saturday 22nd September: Demonstrate at the Women’s Library. 4-5pm, Old Castle Street, E1 (Aldgate East). Download the flyer here
